Wire identification directory
Choose the wire family from markings and construction.
A product name alone is rarely enough. Use jacket legends, reel tags, conductor ends, conductor count, size, voltage rating, insulation, armor, and package evidence to select the closest wire-type page.
Conductor and insulation identification
Separate the lot by visible label whenever practical: wire family, copper or aluminum, gauge or MCM size, conductor count, and new-versus-removed condition. Unknown material can still be reviewed when the jacket and cut ends are photographed clearly.
Quantity, footage, and reel evaluation
Group unlike wire into a simple inventory: type, size, conductor, package, and estimated quantity. Counts by reel, coil, carton, pallet, or loose bundle are more useful than one combined weight when the mix has different resale paths.
Make the inventory understandable before pickup planning.
Photograph the complete printed legend across multiple frames if necessary.Show a clean conductor end and the full package, coil, reel, or bundle.Include size, quantity, condition, pickup location, and any unknowns rather than guessing.
Describe how the lot can be released and loaded.
Keep different wire families separated for inventory and loading. Mixing unidentified material into one weight can obscure condition and handling differences.
